As you may know, this year’s annual print competition was held at the January meeting where members voted for their favourite images. The Galashiels Camera Club Agricultural Competition – 14th November 2012

This year and for the first time, the TPG entered the Agricultural Photographic Competition hosted by Galashiels Camera Club. This is an annual event where clubs get together from across the Borders for a spot of friendly competition. There was a large number of entries in both the Print and Projected Image categories and the standard was exceptionally high. However, despite being newcomers to inter-club competition, the members of the TPG acquitted themselves very well and came away with a number of prizes. An Evening with Landscape Photographer Bruce Percy – 10th October 2012

Our speaker at the October meeting was the well known landscape photographer Bruce Percy. With his stunning audiovisual presentations, Bruce took the members on a magical photographic journey to some of the most remote landscapes on the planet.  His images of the Bolivian Altiplano and the rugged landscapes of Iceland and the Lofoton Islands, were quite simply breathtaking. TPG Member Wins Major Photographic Award

I am delighted to announce that TPG member Mikuni Uehara has won a major award in the third annual Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) photography competition. This competition, hosted jointly by the of the friends of the RBGE and the Scotsman newspaper, attracted 387 entries in total across the three categories including: “garden view”, “plant portrait” and “wildlife”. Plants, Peaks and Passes of the Karakoram by Dave Binns – 4th April 2012

While the majority of us seem to lead fairly ordinary lives, there are those who seek adventure. Dave Binns, is one of those people. A gardener by profession, Dave has travelled the world collecting rare and exotic plants. His travels have often taken him to parts of the globe that others seldom see. It was one of those locations, the high mountains of the Karakorum, that formed the subject of Dave’s talk to the Tweeddale Photographic Group at our April meeting. Continue reading
